Weekly News Report.

Note to all members and other anglers 17th September.

On 30th September there will be an an International lure fishing match held on the whole length of our canal  from the A5 bridge at Dodford down to Yardley wharf. This will be a roving match with all contestants being drawn in pairs and results are worked out by measuring each fish caught.  There could be up to 200 anglers taking part so we would recommend that you don’t plan on fishing the canal that day.

23rd February

Any anglers interested in getting parliament to debate the otter problem are urged to log on to the link below and sign the petition.

Non lethal control of Otters

10th February

Visiting lure anglers fishing on the River Nene just downstream of the town waters report  catches of Pike and Perch with largest reported pike just getting into double figures of around the 12/13lb mark. Plenty of interest from “Jacks” around 2 to 3lb. Largest perch recorded struggled to reach 1lb.

No current news has been received from the Great Ouse.

Canal anglers have been thin on the ground and catches very patchy with 4 or 5lb coming from one swim and next man cannot get a bite, hopefully when we get February out the way things will pick up a bit with more anglers out and more catches to report.

If you fish the club waters and get a decent catch you would like to report  contact Mick Dimmock either by phone or email and we will let other members know. Pictures especially welcome.

14th November

The bottom gate at meadow lakes has been repaired with grateful thanks to Stuart Eggleton for his efforts. All anglers using it will note it is also locked as per top gate, Same code will open both locks. This is due to ongoing vandalism and people leaving gates open and allowing the cattle to get into the lake area. All members are requested to keep gates shut and locked when entering complex and especially when departing.

8th May weekly news

The Canal & River Trust have this week  (8th May) completed another Zander sweep on our stretch of canal and we will post results when we get the report.

A young lady from one of our local primary schools out on a angling session on the canal organised by the Nene during this last week managed to hook and land a beautifully conditioned roach of around 2lb in weight. Course organiser Mick Dimmock was green with envy as never had one that big himself.

New club cards will be in tackle shops before start of June. Please check rules for new pricings.

Members will notice a locked chain across the entrance to meadow lakes code number is in all new club books.
