Spade End

Lay a loop of line along the shank of the hook to just below the bend of the hook.

 

Grip the loop together with the bend of the hook between thumb and fore finger.

Wrap the short end of the line around the shank of the hook and the other piece of line, starting at the bend of the hook and finishing up near the spade.

Alter your grip exposing both the bend of the hook and the loop in the line pass the free end through the loop.

Pull both the short end of the line and the main line at the same time to tighten the knot. Wet the line and dress the knot. Ensure that the main line comes from the inside of the hook not from behind the spade tighten and trim.
