Barby Banks

The first club match of the new season was fished at Barby Banks fishery (pegs 28 – 62) with 25 anglers keen to get a good net of fish and to start the club match season in style.

Due to the early curtailment (COVID restrictions) of last seasons club match points championship, and therefore no pay out of prizes for the top three, the club decided to put in £100 for a ‘Golden Peg’ to be fished for during this seasons club matches.

Tosh Saunders was the first angler to be drawn on the Golden Peg but unfortunately for Tosh, as with most that fished the match, it wasn’t to be a day for many bites and so the £100 rolls over to the next match.

First on the day with 47lb 8oz of carp to 3lb caught on maggot in mid water was Mr Consistency himself Rob Pottinger. In second place with 25lb 2oz of carp caught at 16m on maggots was Mick Goodridge and completing the frame was Bob Eales with 20lb 12oz of carp.

Section prizes went to Baz Eaton 19lb, John Broughton 20lb 4oz and Brian Ayliff 13lb 2oz.

12 anglers on the day did not weigh in.

1st – Rob Pottinger – 47lb 8oz
2nd – Mick Goodridge – 25lb 2oz
3rd – Bob Eales – 20lb 12oz
