Match Details

The 15th and last points match was held yesterday at Nether Heyford on the canal and was also the Christmas match. It was fished by 20 seniors and 6 juniors on a mild, breezy day and very clear water which made fishing very hard for most.
The junior match was won by Harry with 3 pounds 6 ounces, 2nd Henry with 1 pound 11 ounces and 3rd Robert with 12 ounces. Prizes were given to all the juniors.
The seniors match was won by Scot Barnes on peg 11 at Furnace Lane bridge with 86 fish on bread punch and pinkie and groundbait for 4 pounds 5 ounces, 2nd Mick Goodridge on the boats at Furnace Lane with a mainly Perch catch of 2 pounds 14 ounces, 3rd John Balhatchet with 1 pound 15 ounces and 4th = Chris Howard and Brian Ayliff with 1 pound 13 ounces.
Sections were won by Steve Malsher 1 pound 10 ounces, Harry Harris with 9 ounces and Pete Fish /Baz Eaton with 14 ounces.
The points were won by Rob Pottinger on 190, 2nd Matthew Webb 173 and 3rd Mick Goodridge 166
The club will be holding 2 open matches over the Christmas period on Sunday 28th at Stoke Bruerne bottom lock and Wednesday 31st at Weedon

Match Details

The 14th club points match was held on the canal at Yardley Wharf yesterday with 17 fishing on a mild but wet day. The canal was very coloured but not flowing and fished reasonably well. 1st was Pete Laughton on peg 17 below tin bridge with 11 pounds 10 ounces of Skimmers and Roach on dead reds and Pinkies, 2nd Andy Webster on peg 14 with 10 pounds 8 ounces including a Perch of 2 pounds 13 ounces and a 2 pound hybrid on lobworm, 3rd John Balhatchet on peg 2 with 6 pounds 7 ounces of Perch and Skimmers. Sections were won by Brian Ayliff 6 pounds 6 ounces, Rob Pottinger 5 pounds 5 ounces and Chris Howard 4 pounds 8 ounces. The last points match will be held this Sunday 14th on the canal at Nether Heyford draw at Furnace Lane

Match Details

The 13th club points match was held on the canal at Stoke Bruerne pounds yesterday with 21 fishing. Conditions were cold and combined with the clear water made fishing hard for most. 1st on the day was Rob Pottinger with 13 pounds 4 ounces of quality Roach and Perch on bread punch then worm from the pound below the long pound, 2nd Steve Malsher with 5 pounds of Roach and Perch, 3rd= Baz Eaton and John Balhatchet with 3 pounds 10 ounces. Sections were won by Brian Ayliff 2 pounds 13 ounces, John Broughton 2 pounds 7 ounces,Matthew Webb 2 pounds 8 ounces, Scott Barnes 2 pounds 6 ounces and Trevor Barnes 1 pound 3 ounces.
The next points club match is on Sunday 7th December on canal at Yardley Wharf which is a replacement for the river match which was abandoned

The club points match this week was held on Scotland Pond Castle Ashby with 20 fishing with the weather overnight turning cold which made fishing difficult for most. 1st on the day was Rob Pottinger on peg 32 with 12 pounds 1 ounce of Roach and Skimmers, 2nd on peg 13 was Jason Cooke with 8 pounds 10 ounces and 3rd on peg 30 was Matthew Webb with 6 pounds 5 ounces.
Sections were won by Simon Cordingley peg 8 – 5 pounds 11 ounces, Suzie Galloway peg 2 – 4 pounds 14 ounces, Paul Minney peg 12 – 3 pounds 8 ounces and Brian Ayliff peg 31 – 1 pound 9 ounces

The latest club points match was held yesterday on Canon’s Ashby top lake by 14. The water is still very low so fishing was hard for most on what turned out to be a wet day.
1st John Broughton on peg 12 with 9 pounds of caster caught Roach and Skimmers, 2nd Simon Cordingley on peg 9 with 7 pounds 6 ounces and 3rd Rob Pottinger on peg 10 with 4 pounds 1 ounce

Yesterday the latest club points match was held on the River Nene at Ringstead Shallows and on a windy day was fished by 13 and the fishing again was difficult for most on a very clear river.
1st on peg 1 was Les Goodridge with a small fish catch of 6 pounds 7 ounces, 2nd on peg 18 was Mick Goodridge with 5 pounds and 3rd John Broughton on peg 14 with 4 pounds 14 ounces. Sections were won by Chris Howard 4 pounds 6 ounces and Rob Pottinger 4 pounds 12 ounces

We held the latest club points match on Canon’s Ashby top lake which was fished by 16 on what started as a very wet day but warm. Due to the very low water levels many pegs were difficult with most fish caught in the deeper water. 1st was John Broughton with 13 pounds 6 ounces of Caster caught Roach and Skimmers on peg 11, 2nd was Rob Pottinger with 10 pounds 15 ounces on peg 10 and 3rd Dave Gibbins with 7 pounds 3 ounces on peg 9.

Yesterday we held the latest club points match on the River Nene at Ringstead Shallows which was fished by 16 on a showery but warm day. The fishing was difficult for most due to the extremely low and very clear water.
1st Andy Law on peg 9 with 7 pounds 4 ounces including a 4 pounds Bream and small Roach, Dace and Gudgeon on double Pinkie, 2nd Mick Goodridge on peg 49 with 5 pounds 8 ounces of Small Perch and then some hemp Roach, 3rd Matthew Webb on peg 6 with 5 pounds of small Roach,Dace and Gudgeon.
Sections were won by Les Ramsden on peg 1 with 4 pounds 3 ounces and Paul Minney on peg 20 with 4 pounds 13 ounces

The 6th club points match was held yesterday at White Bishop lake, Bishops Bowl with 15 fishing on a hot,calm day.
1st on the day was Craig Collins with 75 pounds 8 ounces of pole and method caught Carp to 10 pounds on Sweetcorn, 2nd Kevin Elliott with 74 pounds 2 ounces of Carp, 3rd Chris Howard with 69 pounds of margin caught Carp and 4th Kevin Nightingale with 59 pounds 12 ounces of Carp and Skimmers. The next match is on Barby Banks on Sunday 24th August

COMPETITION RULES

1. Subject to the approval of the Management Committee venues and prizes shall be decided by the Match Committee.

2. The draw for positions to take place Ninety minutes before the start of the Competition, unless otherwise stated.

3. Competitors to fish to Angling Trust Rules:

(A) Draw cards shall be sealed

(B) All Competitors shall carry their own tackle and bait to their pegs with the exception of Members over 65 years of age or disabled members, who may have assistance.

(C) The signal to start and cease fishing will be given by the Match Secretary or his Appointees only.

(D) The duration of the Competition shall be printed in the membership card, unless changed on the day of the competition due to unforeseen circumstances.

(E) Before the starting signal no angler shall disturb the water other than to wet ground bait, clear fishing ground of weeds or obstructions, or position keep nets. Before start anglers shall be allowed to plumb depth.

(F) After the starting signal a competitor may wade within one metre of the waters edge.

(G) Each competitor must fish within one metre either side of his peg number. In the matter of flowing water, he may fish from his peg in the direction of the flow to the next peg downstream, and on still water as far as half the distance between his peg and the pegs on either side.

(H) No competitor to leave his peg until the final signal except for calls of nature.

(I) Competitors must not cause annoyance or interfere with other competitors.

(J) Only one rod and line and a single hook to be used at any one time, but other rods and tackle may be assembled behind the competitor provided they are not baited.

(K) Any baits may be used other than live or dead fish, artificial lures, wasp grub.

(L) No mechanical means of projecting groundbait is allowed other than by catapult, throwing stick, swimfeeder or bait dropper. Competitors pegged opposite moored boats on the canal are requested to use pole cups when feeding close to the boats rather than catapults.

(M) Competitors must land their own fish and retain them in keepnets complying with the relevant E.A. byelaws.

(N) All freshwater fish in season other than Pike, Zander, Game fish and crustaceans are not eligible.

(O) Competitors must cease fishing at the signal, but will be allowed 15 minutes to play a fish hooked before the signal.

(P) All competitors must ensure their pegs are clear of litter and will not be weighed in until all litter has been removed from their pegs.

(Q) All catches will be weighed to the nearest one quarter ounce rounded up.

(R) Competitors will be responsible for ensuring their correct weight is recorded.

(S) Competitors must fill in their name on the weight cards before being weighed in.

Any breaches of these rules may lead to disqualification. All objections must be reported to the Match Secretary or his Assistant before the results are declared. All objections shall be considered by the Match Stewards and their decision shall be final.
